Advice on finding a job during the fall quarter?

Does anybody have any advice on getting a job? I looked at UCD Jobs, but most of the jobs require too much technical experience in programming. My strength is in video editing, so it would be great to find a job related to that!  I'm okay with any kind of job as long as I can make some pocket change.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Unfortunately, due to budget cuts the campus has to make, there are literally hundreds of student jobs being cut this year, so finding something might actually be difficult.

The only other suggestions I have are to look at the "non-UC Davis jobs" section of the UCD jobs site, look at ASUCD jobs at http://asucd.ucdavis.edu/jobs/, and look on craigslist.

Not only that but many of the jobs are turning to work study students instead since they are cheaper to higher than paying people minimum wage. That's what happened to my old job at the art gallery in the MU (that is now the art lounge on the 2nd floor)

craigslist can actually be pretty decent actually. And non-UC Davis Jobs is also a good place to start.

If you stick to Davis, employers generally know that they're likely to get students and will thus be willing to work around your school schedule (within limits probably). So don't limit yourself to on-campus jobs. It's not likely available, but I worked at the UC Davis Shields Library in the Stacks division a few years back. They sometimes need new students to fill in for the ones who graduated. Not sure if it's too late but you could try that department. Contact them and see if there's anything available or if they expect to be hiring anytime in the near future. Usually they don't get around to posting because the students there tell their friends first. Job's kinda boring but the people can make it fun.

There are way more people with video editing skills than are needed. If video editing is your strength, then you're best off utilizing it in a marketing type position. There are people that need videos made per basis if you're willing to freelance. Good luck.

unitrans pays well..

i know people who've worked for the campus tv channel (i dunno what its called...aggie tv maybe?)

ask the info desk people when MU auxiliary is hiring (includes info desk, campus unions, freeborn hall, programming, games area)

you could work at the DC but it will make you smell..

I worked as a CRC in Meyer, which specialized in video editing. We used FCP and iMovie.
